Located at almost 9,000′, the historic mining town of Creede is located at the head of the Rio Grande River in the heart of the San Juan Mountains in southwest Colorado. It’s a key stop along the gorgeous Silver Thread Scenic Byway which features some of the best scenic views in the state of Colorado. Featuring 96% public lands, Mineral County boasts endless outdoor recreation and enjoyment possibilities. Our quaint town of 300 full-time residents is home for two stages of the renowned Creede Repertory Theatre, as well as several unique shops, art galleries and one-of-a-kind restaurants.
Creede also hosts several annual events including the Taste of Creede, Donkey Dash, July 4th Street Festival and Parade, Woodcarvers Rendezvous, Rock and Mineral Show, Headwaters Music Festival, Salsa Fiesta, Cruisin’ the Canyon Car Show, Chocolate Festival, and Golden Pick Pond Hockey Tournament.
